Removal of Birthmarks and Moles
Oversized birthmarks and large moles can both cause people to feel self-conscious about their appearance. Dr. Wiltz can remove the moles and birthmarks by surgical excision. Although most moles are harmless, some can be pre-cancerous. Dr. Wiltz encourages patients to look for warning signs, including changes in the size, shape or color of moles. He performs thorough evaluations and cancer screenings.
Skin Cancer
Skin cancer affects nearly one in five Americans during their lifetime and should be treated as early as possible. It can appear in many shapes, colors, sizes, and textures, so it’s important to watch for changes. Risk factors include pale skin, a family history of melanoma, being over 40 years old, and regular sun exposure.
Common types of skin cancer include:
- Basal Cell Carcinoma – 80–85 percent of all skin cancers. Affects cells in the lowest layer of the epidermis.
- Squamous Cell Carcinoma – about 10 percent of all skin cancers. Affects cells in the middle layer of the epidermis.
- Melanoma – around 5 percent of all skin cancers. A rarer but very dangerous type and the leading cause of death from skin disease.
Cosmetic Procedures
Botox – One of the most commonly performed procedures in the United States. Botox injections relax targeted facial muscles to soften dynamic wrinkles and create a more refreshed appearance.
Laser Hair Removal – An FDA‑approved approach to permanently reducing or eliminating unwanted hair on many areas of the body (except close to the eyes). A focused laser targets pigment in the hair follicle to disable growth. A series of treatments is usually needed.
